The hangman game a few days ago got us thinking about how dark some of these children’s games are. It made as wonder what it would it would be like if we shone a light on the brutal realities depicted in a game like Hasbro’s Battleship.
So we set out to build a functioning game of Battleship within the Chat GPT interface, and to lace it with incredibly descriptive commentary in the tone of Tim O’Brien’s The Things They Carried. We also tapped Dall-E to visualize the devastating consequences of a brutal sea battle.
GPT is pretty much maxed out in terms of load, with all the things that we’re making it do. It does the job most of the time.
